Should I go to rehab?
Nov 24th, 2009 by Sandra
A short question yet it is for you hard to answer.
It is essential to understand that deciding to go to a drug and alcohol rehab is not an easy one. Addiction is something that some people fight with for years, before they finally decided that getting serious about it is not something that they can do on their own.
You must also realize that having a drug addiction is not something that you should be ashamed of. Actually, it is a courageous thing to do, once you decide to seek out drug and alcohol rehabilitation for your addiction.

* When to say: “Yes, I should go to rehab?”
In fact, you don’t have to wait for your addiction to become worse before deciding to go to rehab. Once you decided and feel that it is enough, do not hesitate to talk to your family or someone whom you can trust and ask their help. Or you can do it by yourself just by calling rehab centers that you think are good enough to help you. These rehab centers are here to help those who want to be rehabilitated from addiction, but were not able to do it alone.
If you are still uncertain, try to answer these questions:
- Is your level of paranoia increasing?
- Are your hands shaking or might be having cold sweats or heart palpitations?
- Are you having hallucinations?
- Are you seeing things differently?
These are the questions that might help you to decide if it is time for you to go to rehab. If you still want to have a better future, then don’t waste your time. Pick up the phone and make that call. You can also start opening up with your family.
In everything that we do there’s a reason and one way to fight the addiction is to find the root of it. If your sickness or medications make you an addict then seeks medical advice. Maybe you are abusing your medications. If a problem is causing you to become an addict, then seek psychological help. Talk to someone whom you think that can help you out solve the problem.
* Are you now ready to answer your question?
Try to ask yourself again, should I go to rehab? Consider the things that you have read and think of yourself and your family. Don’t waste your time, it is never too late to say yes.
